The position that you are applying for is in the electrical department that takes pride in utilizing it's resources to design, construct, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the full range of electrical equipment at the Snow Summit and Bear Mountain Resorts in Big Bear CA.  The primary work supports operations, snowmaking and power generation.

This includes Windows Servers in a VMware Environment, switches, routers, SAN (Storage Attached Network), firewalls, VPN, web servers, system health, backups and data recovery. Will also need to support production systems, desktops, laptops, and mobile devices as necessary.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Configure, maintain, and support VMware / SAN cluster and related Virtual Machines.
  • Configure, maintain, and support several Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 environments including Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP.
  • Proactive patch Management for Windows Servers, VMware, EMC, and all related network hardware.
  • Configuration and maintenance of Sonicwall firewalls, Dell switching equipment, HP/Cisco routing equipment.
  • Provide hardware and software troubleshooting across the enterprise.
  • Monitor server and application workloads and performance, adjust environments as necessary to ensure proper performance of POS and back office applications.

Operates equipment used to remove snow from roads and parking areas. More

Early in the season, operates machinery for snowmaking (working with snow guns, pumps, and snowmobiles). Frequently drives in adverse weather conditions.

 

Requirements

The Snow Placement Department is offering seasonal positions involved in both making snow in the early season and removing snow from highways and around facilities during the winter.

The department is able to offer a mid October beginning for its employees. We train in the use of snow making equipment and procedures in October and start to blow snow on the trails as soon as temperatures allow. This is often late October or early November and we continue until Mother Nature takes over.

 

Then it's time to take plow trucks, loaders and blowers and remove snow from our lots, facilities and highways to allow guests to reach Mammoth. We work at night, often in storms and conditions of poor visibility.

 

Our work schedules are flexible and are weather driven. We teach skills in snowmaking and heavy equipment use that can be taken away and used at other times and locations during the lives of our employees. We train and prepare employees to pass the California class B license. Our work is often at night and this leaves daytimes free to ride, or sleep. Work is available in our department usually until around Easter, and is determined by weather and the level of business at the resort.

 

Our system allows operators to graduate up the pay scale according to the skills and abilities developed by the employee. We will provide a skills assessment to apprentice employees after 120 operating hours, which could allow for a raise or promotion.

 

Job Requirements: Applicants must have a California Drivers License. You must be at least 19 years of age, have had a license for three years or more, and have no more than two accidents or minor convictions. You may not have any major violations ( DUI, DWI, Reckless, Hit and Run etc) in the last three years.
